Celebrating 45 Years in Control

Contemporary Controls was established in George Thomas' basement in 1975. Here we are, 45 years later, and several of our engineers are working in their own basements because of COVID-19 stay-at-home orders.

While still maintaining social distance and wearing masks, we commemorated our anniversary on June 23 both on-site and virtually.

"With most of our staff working from home, it was a quiet celebration," said George Thomas, President. "But we're very proud of this milestone. We've been part of the migration from standalone controllers to fieldbus-networked controllers to IP-based network controllers. We're part of the open-systems movement. Building automation continues to be an exciting and innovative market."

Contemporary Controls began as a system integration and consulting business focused on microcomputer and PLC applications. One of the first projects was the development of a microprocessor-based ratiometer for measuring the fabric stretch between pull-rolls on a cascaded AC drive system.

Since that time, we've expanded to design and manufacture products built upon technologies such as BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet and Cellular.

Contemporary Controls has won numerous industry awards, including Control Engineering's Editor's Choice award, Control Trends Awards Vendor of the Year and Best Technical Support Company. In 2015, George Thomas, was inducted into the Control Trends Awards Hall of Fame.

Contemporary Controls success, for the past 45 years, is based on providing innovative network devices backed by exceptional customer support. Thank you for 45 years of support.
