Illinois Manufacturing Month

October is Manufacturing Month in Illinois. Sponsored by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), Manufacturing Month is an opportunity for manufacturers across the state to highlight their contributions and achievements and to build excitement about careers in manufacturing.

"Manufacturing Month is a celebration of our state's amazing and innovative manufacturing sector that employs more 555,000 hard-working women and men in in every part of the state," said Mark Denzler, president and CEO of the Illinois Manufacturers' Association (IMA), the oldest and one of the largest state manufacturing trade associations in the United States.

Headquartered in Downers Grove, Illinois, Contemporary Controls has been manufacturing networking and control products for the building, energy, and industrial automation industries for more than 45 years and is a long-standing member of IMA. Our automation products include direct digital controllers (DDCs), supervisors, IP routers and switches, protocol routers and gateways for BACnet and Modbus, and MQTT gateways for cloud computing.

Contemporary Controls' Downers Grove manufacturing facility is ISO9001:2015 certified and under UL surveillance and is equipped with multi-function Surface Mount Technology (SMT) process lines that create lead-free, high-density printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). These PCBAs are then installed into their enclosures, tested, and stored in their final packaging in an environmentally-controlled warehouse, ready for worldwide shipment.

In addition to self-manufacturing, we provide original design manufacturing (ODM) services to design and develop proprietary application-ready products for OEM customers.

"The innovation and resiliency of manufacturers have helped bring amazing products to market and brought the nation through the darkest days of the pandemic," said Denzler.

As an essential business, Contemporary Controls' IL facility remained fully operation throughout the pandemic. "Our production crew continued to work on-site, and we never missed a day," said George Thomas, president. "Like many companies striving to maintain their production goals while keeping employees safe, we quickly implemented safety protocols according to the CDC and state of IL guidelines. Today, we are applying the lessons we learned during this pandemic to create new and improved best practices for production and employee safety."

Throughout the month of October, the State of Illinois, agency leaders and partners, such as the IMA, will be hosting a series of events for industry leaders and next-generation manufacturers.
