March 2017 - The Skorpion EISK8P-GT eight-port Gigabit PoE Switch offers an easy and economical way to benefit from the increased bandwidth and speed of Gigabit Ethernet. It provides eight Gigabit ports for fast deployment to meet increasing network loads. The four Gigabit PoE ports provide a larger bandwidth for high-speed network applications, especially Wi-Fi Access Points (AP), high-resolution IP video cameras and operator workstations.
Gigabit Connection
The EISK8P-GT switch is equipped for exceptionally quick speeds and supports Jumbo Frames up to 9216 bytes. Having its speed set automatically through auto-negotiation, the Gigabit switch operates at 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps accommodating 1000 Mbps devices. Systems with 10/100 Mbps benefit from the switch because cascaded switches automatically negotiate to gigabit speed over the backbone connection. For 10/100 Mbps legacy devices, the port speed automatically slows - accommodating any Ethernet automation system.
Power over Ethernet (PoE)
PoE eliminates the need for additional power supplies for Ethernet-enabled devices placed in demanding locations. The unmanaged EISK8P-GT switch gives you the flexibility to add additional Ethernet devices onto a network in locations where power outlets are not available - enabling the user to easily connect and supply power to PoE and wireless APs and IP cameras mounted out of reach or outdoors. The Gigabit switch is durable for challenging conditions that require reliable performance with demanding temperature ranges. The switch complies with IEEE 802.3af and UL 508 specifications. Input voltage should be sourced from an isolated Class 2 power supply in order to comply with these specifications. You can learn more about PoE by reviewing the expanded PoE section in our 40th Anniversary Network Communications for Buildings book available as a PDF.
