Contemporary Controls was one of more than 1,700 exhibitors at the AHR Expo 2023 in Atlanta from February 6-8. With more than 42,000 attendees (up from 30,500 at last year's event), the Expo showcased the latest technologies and solutions in the HVACR industry and provided a great opportunity to visit with customers and colleagues and to make new connections.
There were more than 100 educational sessions with much discussion about the ongoing supply chain issues, decarbonization, cybersecurity and the evolution of building automation and control technologies.
"It was exciting to see that our latest product innovations are on target with industry trends and regulatory requirements for cleaner and more secure building automation infrastructure," said George Thomas, president of Contemporary Controls. "Decarbonization is a hot topic in our industry. According to an AHSRAE study, the worldwide building sector accounts for about 40% of energy-related carbon emissions. The education sessions and product demonstrations gave examples of how to improve energy efficiency to reduce carbon emissions, such as transitioning to heat pumps that deliver electric-based heating and CO2 refrigerants that extend the heating range for colder climates. Our new BACnet controllers utilize advanced control sequences that improve performance and reduce energy consumption.
There has also been a shift in cybersecurity as BACnet/SC moves from concept to application. We showcased our BASrouterSC as well as our BASrouterSX which are high performance BACnet routers that deliver enhanced encryption and authentications with simple integration."
In addition, our BASrouter series of BACnet multi-network routers and CTRLink line of Ethernet Switches were very popular. The BASrouters provide versatile stand-alone routing between BACnet/IP, BACnet Ethernet, and BACnet MS/TP networks. And the CTRLink switches provide versatile and reliable solutions for expanding an Ethernet network. Visitors also showed a lot of interest in our BASstat communicating thermostats for use in a variety of applications—from expanding existing systems to include remote access and enhanced control and monitoring to integrating BACnet protocol into non-networked systems.
"I was impressed with all the Spanish speaking visitors we received, and how many had worked with Diego Mateo, our Technical Sales & Solutions Specialist," said Thomas. "Having bi-lingual support gives us a great opportunity to connect with customers in Latin American markets. We are looking forward to furthering those relationships at AHR Expo Mexico in September."
In addition to AHR Expo in Mexico, we look forward to AHR Expo 2024 which will take place at the McCormick Center in our hometown of Chicago.
