Haystack Connect 2013 - A Successful Launch

May 2013 – Contemporary Controls is proud to have been a supporter and contributor of Haystack Connect 2013. The community-produced event demonstrated a natural progression - with open technologies, realizing that no single manufacturer or organization can drive the industry. Inspiration behind Haystack Connect 2013 was to bring the best state-of-the-art solutions together to advance intelligent buildings. Our BAS solutions received great reviews and we were happy to exchange ideas and thoughts with our respected colleagues within the community learning and sharing best practices that ultimately benefit the customer.

Contemporary Controls displayed products that support our vision of BASautomation® - Building on BACnet - communication, integration, visualization and control. Our primary focus remains on bringing devices up to IP networks, which is why BACnet/IP is very important to us. Showcased were our BACnet MS/TP routers that can bring Spyder controllers up to BACnet/IP without installing another building controller. Our BACnet gateways make it easy to integrate Modbus RTU to BACnet/IP because we provide the necessary device profiles. You just check-off the points you want. Once up on BACnet/IP, our managed and unmanaged Ethernet switches can complete the installation, which were designed to co-exist in the control panel with other 24 VAC control equipment. We also introduced our newest product to join our family - our high performance BACnet BASrouterLX.

Our BAScloudVPN solution was also displayed. The BAScloudVPN provides customers a good solution for cost-effective remote monitoring of sites. A VPN connection is made using a wired or cellular connection, which works great with our hosted cloud service.

George Thomas, President of Contemporary Controls presented Embedded Linux - a Standardized Platform for IP Applications which highlighted the next wave of hardware advances that are transforming price points, system architectures and redefining "the possible".
